On Monday night, the New Globe Theater held a star-studded benefit entitled Shakespeare in the Brave New World. Among the performers were brothers Anthony and Will Nunziata and Ugly Betty star Judith Light.
Tony Award winner Maryann Plunkett, currently performing in the Roundabout Theatre Company’s A Man for All Seasons, and husband Jay O. Sanders also participated in the event.
Peter Francis-James and Tamara Tunie, both of whom have starred in the Bard’s plays, playfully posed for the camera.
Jonathan Cake, who played the scheming Iachimo in last season’s production of Shakespeare’s Cymbeline, lent his talents to the evening.
James Waterston, who starred in Sir Peter Hall’s production of As You Like It, and Manu Narayan, were among the evening’s other stars.
On Monday night, City Center hosted On Broadway, a benefit which raised over $1 million for Career Transition for Dancers. Among the highlights were Bebe Neuwirth, David Warren Gibson, and Pam Sousa recreating the famed “Manson Trio” from Pippin.
Noah Racey and Karen Ziemba showed off their terpsichorean skills in an excerpt from Susan Stroman’s Crazy For You.
Jane Krakowski (center) reprised “Two Lost Souls,” which she performed this past summer in the City Center Encores! production of Damn Yankees.
On Monday night, the charity Only Make Believe had its own special gala at The Box, which raised $175,000. Here are film star Mike Myers, who hosted the event, with Only Make Believe founder Dena Hammerstein and son Simon, the owner of The Box.
