PHOTO FLASH: Adam Gwon and Michelle Elliott Receive Kleban Prizes
A cocktail reception honoring Adam Gwon and Michelle Elliott, winners of the 21st Annual Kleban Prizes, was held at ASCAP on Monday, June 27.
Gwon was named Most Promising Musical Theater Lyricist, while Elliott was named Most Promising Musical Theater Librettist. Both received $100,000 awards as the prize. This year’s judges were Stephen Flaherty, Michael Korie and David Zippel.
On hand to perform material from Gwon’s musical Ordinary Days were Kate Wetherhead and Lisa Bresica. Katie Thompson and Molly Hager performed selections from Elliott’s musical Cloaked, written with collaborator Danny Larsen.
Among those in attendance were Andre Bishop, Elliot H. Brown, Sheldon Harnick, and Richard Maltby Jr.
