Boy George Gets His Freak on With the Cast of Broadway's Taboo at 10-Year Reunion Concert
Ten years to the day that the musical Taboo closed on Broadway, much of the original cast reunited at 54 Below to sing through the show's score as part of four sold-out concerts. Produced by John McDaniel (who also served as musical director) and Amanda Sales, the February 7 and 8 performances featured stars Sarah Uriarte Berry, Jeffrey Carlson, Liz McCartney, and Cary Shields reprising their performances as Nicola, Marilyn, Big Sue, and Marcus, respectively, as well as the show's ensemble, including Jennifer Cody, Lisa Gadja, Bob Gaynor, Donnie Keshawarz, Jennifer Mrozik, Nathan Peck, Alexander Quiroga, Jody Reynard, Asa Somers, Denise Summerford, James Tabeek, and Gregory Treco. In the leading roles of Boy George and Leigh Bowery were Matthew Rowland and Samuel Buttery, respectively, who appeared in the musical's 2012 off-West End revival in London. Broadway veteran Jeremy Kushnier sang the role of Philip Sallon.
Boy George, who wrote the show’s Tony Award-nominated score and also appeared in the Broadway production, was in attendance on February 8 and joined the cast in the green room for post-show photos. You can check them out in the gallery below.
