On Monday, February 13, Theatre for the New City (TNC) held its ninth annual Love N’Courage benefit gala at the National Arts Club. This year’s gala honored writer Bel Kaufman, author of Up the Down Staircase, which was announced by TNC co-founder and artistic director Crystal Fields.
Singer/songwriter Phoebe Legere and playwright/filmmaker Matt Morillo hosted the evening, which featured performances by Tammy Grimes, Anna Bergman, and Louisa Bradshaw among others.
Guests included Eli Wallach, Anne Jackson, KT Sullivan, Jean Claude Van Itallie, Betsy Von Furstenberg, and Glenn Vincent.
Proceeds will benefit the company’s Emerging Playwrights’ Program.
