Justin Guarini will join the previously reported Paul Iacono in Surflight Theatre’s production of Rent, May 28-June 19. Jen Bender will direct and choreograph the production, with music direction by Jeremy Randall.
Set in NYC’s East Village, Jonathan Larson’s Pulitzer Prize-winning musical is a modern take on the classic Puccini opera, La Boheme. It tells the unforgettable story of a group of young artists learning to survive, falling in love, finding their voices and living for today.
Guarini, who will play Roger, is currently starring on Broadway as Will in American Idiot, and appeared earlier this season in Broadway’s Women on the Verge of a Nervous Breakdown. He was a runner-up on season one of American Idol, and has released two solo albums.
Iacono, who will play Mark, currently stars in MTV’s The Hard Times of RJ Berger, and also co-starred in the film remake of Fame. His stage credits include Mame, Landscape of the Body and The Dark at the Top of the Stairs.
