25th Anniversary concerts for The Phantom of the Opera were held at Royal Albert Hall on October 1 and 2. Laurence Connor directed the performances, which had musical staging and choreography by Gillian Lynne.
Ramin Karimloo starred in the title role, with Sierra Boggess as Christine, Hadley Fraser as Raoul, Wendy Ferguson as Carlotta, Barry James as Monsieur Firmin, Gareth Snook as Monsieur André, Liz Robertson as Madame Giry, Daisy Maywood as Meg Giry, Wynne Evans as Piangi, and Sergei Polunin as the Slave Master.
Among the special guests who joined the company for the curtain call were original Phantom stars Michael Crawford and Sarah Brightman, and producer Cameron Mackintosh.
The creative team for the celebration included production designer Matt Kinley, who will use the inspiration of Maria Björnson’s original design, lighting designers Patrick Woodroffe and Andrew Bridge, and sound designer Mick Potter.
Based on the classic novel Le Fantôme de L’Opéra by Gaston Leroux, the show features music by Andrew Lloyd Webber, lyrics by Charles Hart (with additional lyrics by Richard Stilgoe), and book by Richard Stilgoe and Andrew Lloyd Webber. In addition to the production playing at Broadway’s Majestic Theatre, the musical can be seen at the West End’s Her Majesty’s Theatre and in Las Vegas at Venetian Resort Hotel Casino.
