Lyricist and Librettist Julian More Dies at 81
More, with David Heneker and Monty Norman, wrote the English book and lyrics for the Tony-nominated musical Irma La Douce. He received a Tony Award nomination for his book for The Moony Shapiro Songbook in 1981. His last musical on Broadway was Roza, directed by Harold Prince.
His West End debut was the musical Grab Me a Gondola, for which he wrote the book and co-wrote, with James Gilbert, the lyrics. Other West End credits include Expresso Bongo, Bordello, The Shakespeare Revue, and The Art of Living.
More is survived by his wife, Sheila, his twin daughters Camilla and Carey, and grandchildren Sasha, Cameron, and Manon.
