Jenn Gambatese, Bill Heck, Mandy Patinkin, Sam Waterston, et al. Receive Connecticut Critics Circle Award Nominations
Among the most honored productions is Horton Foote's The Orphans' Home Cycle, which has received a special award for Extraordinary Theatrical Experience in addition to seven nominations, including ones for Bill Heck as Outstanding Actor in a Play and Michael Wilson for Outstanding Director of a Play, as well as an Outstanding Ensemble nomination.
Nominated alongside Heck in the Outstanding Actor category are Will Lebow (Mistakes Were Made - Hartford Stage), Mandy Patinkin (Compulsion - Yale Rep), and Sam Waterston (Have You Seen Us? - Long Wharf Theatre).
Goodspeed Musicals' production of Annie Get Your Gun has received a total of six nominations, including one for actress Jenn Gambatese and actor Kevin Earley. Noah Racey has also received a nomination for Outstanding Choreography for the show and director Rob Ruggiero has one of his three nominations for the production. Ruggiero is also nominated for his work on Goodspeed's Camelot and for Shakespeare's R&J at TheatreWorks.
Gambatese will be competing against two other actresses in the Outstanding Actress in a Musical, where Nancy Anderson and Jessica Grové are nominated for their performances in Westport Country Playhouse's She Loves Me. This production also received a nomination for Outstanding Production of a Musical, as well as ones for Mark Lamos (Outstanding Director of a Musical) and Jonathan Butterell (Outstanding Choreography).
Among the other nominees are actors Charlotte Booker, Liza Colón-Zayas, Lynnette R. Freeman, Randy Harrison, Brian Charles Rooney, and Nilaja Sun; directors Mark Brokaw and Liesl Tommy; and designers Kevin Adams, John Gromada, and Riccardo Hernandez.
In addition, the Eugene O'Neil Theater Center in Watertown will receive the Tom Killen Award for Outstanding Contribution to Connecticut Theater.
