Playwright Horton Foote will be the subject of two documentaries, according to the Hartford Courant‘s Behind the Curtain Blog. One will be broadcast within the next few weeks and another is due for completion next year.

The CPTV-produced Horton Foote: At Home in Hartford centers on the writer’s years in Connecticut and his affiliation with Michael Wilson and Hartford Stage. The documentary will be aired on the Connecticut public television channel on September 6.

Additionally, a feature film documentary is being created by Don Stokes and Anne Rapp called Horton Foote: the Man from Wharton. The film will feature the Hartford Stage production of The Orphans’ Home Cycle, which begins performances there on Wednesday, and will be seen later in the year at Signature Theatre in New York. This documentary is expected to be finished shooting in May, 2010. No release date has been set.
