Drury Lane Theatre has announced its 2013-2014 season.
The season will kick off with The Tony Award-winning Oliver!, Lionel Bart’s musical adaptation of Charles Dickens’ Oliver Twist (April 4-June 2), directed by Rachel Rockwell. Next up will be the regional premiere of the newest adaptation of Marc Camoletti’s Boeing-Boeing (June 13-August 4), the tale of Bernard, a jet-setting architect living in 1960’s Paris, directed by Dennis Zacek. Later in the summer, Dury Lane will present the regional premiere of Next to Normal (August 15-October 6), Brian Yorkey and Tom Kitt’s dissection of the “normal” American family directed by artistic director William Osetek.
The second Rachel Rockwell-directed musical of the season will be Jerry Herman and Michael Stewart’s Hello, Dolly!, centered on Dolly Gallagher Levi, a New York City matchmaker-extraordinaire (October 17-October 24). The season will come to a close with Mel Brooks’ Young Frankenstein (January 16-March 23), the story of a young Dr. Frankenstein who attempts to complete his grandfather’s masterwork and bring a corpse to life, directed by William Osetek.
