John Rando's Broadway revival of On the Town has announced that it will end its run at the Lyric Theatre on September 6, 2015. The Leonard Bernstein, Betty Comden, Adolph Green, and Jerome Robbins musical began previews September 20, 2014 and opened on October 16, 2014. It will have played 28 previews and 368 performances.
On the Town stars Tony Yazbeck, Jay Armstrong Johnson, and Clyde Alves as a trio of sailors on shore leave in New York City for 24 hours. Megan Fairchild, Alysha Umphress, and Elizabeth Stanley play opposite them as the women who steal their hearts. Jackie Hoffman plays Madame Dilly, with Michael Rupert as Judge Pitkin W. Bridgework and Allison Guinn as Lucy Schmeeler.
The ensemble is made up of Phillip Boykin, Stephen DeRosa, Chip Abbott, Tanya Birl, Angela Brydon, Holly Ann Butler, Julius Carter, Kristine Covillo, Lori Ann Ferreri, Paloma Garcia-Lee, Stephen Hanna, Eloise Kropp, Brandon Leffler, Jess Leprotto, Cory Lingner, Skye Mattox, Michael Rosen, Samantha Sturm, Christopher Vo, Cody Williams, and Mikey Winslow.
On the Town came to Broadway after an acclaimed run at Barrington Stage Company in the summer of 2013. The Broadway mounting, which received four Tony Award nominations including Best Revival of a Musical, features a 28-piece orchestra led by James Moore, scenic design by Beowulf Boritt, lighting design by Jason Lyons, costume design by Jess Goldstein, and sound design by Kai Harada.
