Lyric Stage Company Casts Its Production of Sondheim on Sondheim

Sondheim on Sondheim, coming to the Lyric Stage Company of Boston this January, has found its company of actors to pay homage to the living legend of musical theater.

Sondheim expert Spiro Veloudos directs the production, running from January 15-February 20, 2016. With songs taken from nineteen Sondheim shows produced over a 62-year period, eight Boston-based musical-theater artists will perform well-known, rarely-heard, and cut material, featuring video commentary from the master himself.

The cast features Leigh Barrett, Mala Bhattacharya, Maritza Bostic, Christopher Chew, Aimee Doherty, Davron S. Monroe, Sam Simahk, and Patrick Varner. The creative team also includes scenic design by David Towlun, costume design by Gail Astrid Buckley, lighting design by Chris Hudacs, and projection design by Seaghan McKay.

Sondheim on Sondheim is part of Veloudos' Sondheim Initiative, which he will continue with a production of Company, set to open the 2016-17 Lyric Stage season. This summer will also include an Intensive Sondheim Workshop for teens as part of Lyric First Stage.
