Kevin Costner, Brian Stokes Mitchell, Tommy Tune, Dionne Warwick Set for Strathmore’s 2012 Season

The Music Center at Strathmore has announced an updated schedule for presentations through June 2012.

As previously reported, an early highlight of the season will be the Discover Ellington festival which runs throughout the month of February and includes Tony Award winner Brian Stokes Mitchell performing with the Smithsonian Jazz Masterworks Orchestra on Friday, February 17 at 8pm.

Music legend Dionne Warwick will headline Strathmore’s 2012 Spring Gala on Saturday, April 21.

Among the other upcoming highlights are presentations from Wanda Sykes (February 10), Lily Tomlin (February 26), Michael and Aaron Posner (March 15), Vijay Iyer (March 29), Patti LaBelle (March 30 & 31), Michael Patterson and members of Washington Improv Theater (April 5), Kevin Costner with his band, Modern West (April 5), Joshua Bell and Academy of St. Martins in the Field (April 13), William Bolcom and Joan Morris (April 19), John Pizzarelli and Kurt Elling (May 10), and Tommy Tune in Steps in Time (June 2).

Additional performers will include Mary Alouette, Flo Anito, Benjamin Beilman, Ethan Bortnick, Ellen Cherry, Owen Danoff, Nate Foley, Paco de Lucia, Paul Galbraith, Narek Hakhnazaryan, Eileen Ivers, Stone Kawala, Kokayi, Yasmin Levy, Michael Thomas Quintet, Connaitre Miller, Julia Nixon, Max Raabe, Laura Strickling and more.
