Billy Elliot Chicago Company to Close November 28 Before Launching Tour

The Chicago company of Billy Elliot The Musical, playing at Ford Center for the Performing Arts, Oriental Theatre, will now close on November 28.

The company will then go to play Toronto’s Canon Theatre, January 29-July 10, before moving onto San Francisco’s Orpheum Theater on September 13.

Based on the 2000 film of the same name, Billy Elliot tells the tale of a young boy with a dream of being a dancer and features music by Elton John and book and lyrics Lee Hall. It is directed by Stephen Daldry and choreographed by Peter Darling.

The show won 10 Tony Awards, including Best Musical, Best Director of a Musical, Best Choreography, and Best Book of a Musical.


Cesar Coralles, J.P. Viernes, Myles Erlick and Marcus Pei are currently alternating in the title role. Casting for the tour will be announced at a later date.
