Ali Ewoldt, Kyle Harris et al. Set for West Side Story National Tour

Casting has been announced for the new tour of West Side Story, based on the current Broadway revival. It will launch at the Fisher Theatre in Detroit, Michigan on September 30, 2010.

The show, with music by Leonard Bernstein and lyrics by Stephen Sondheim, has been directed by its two-time Tony Award winning librettist Arthur Laurents, with that staging being recreated for the tour by David Saint. The original Jerome Robbins choreography is reproduced by Joey McKneely.

The cast will star Kyle Harris as Tony, Ali Ewoldt as Maria, Michelle Aravena as Anita, Joseph J. Simeone as Riff, and German Santiago as Bernardo. Also featured will be Mike Boland as Krupke, Ryan Christoper Chotto as A-rab, Stephen DeRosa as Glad Hand, Drew Foster as Action, Alexandra Frohlinger as Anybodys, Jay Garcia as Chino, Grant Gustin as Baby John, Nathan Keen as Big Deal, Christopher Patrick Mullen as Schrank, John O’Creagh as Doc, Kyle Robinson as Diesel, and Cary Tedder as Snowboy.

The ensemble will feature Lauren Boyd, Alicia Charles, Beth Crandall, Dean Andre de Luna, Ted Ely, Lori Ann Ferreri, Ryan Ghysels, Tim Hausmann, Dea Julien, Daniel Kermidas, Kristen Paulicelli, Christie Portera, Erika Santillana, Kevin Santos, Michael Scirrotto, Jeffrey C. Sousa, Jessica Swesey, Kathryn Lin Terza and Kirstin Tucker.

The production features scenic designs by James Youmans, costumes by David C. Woolard, lighting by Howell Binkley, hair by Mark Adam Rampmeyer, and sound design by Dan Moses Schreier.
