Palm Beach Dramaworks has announced its upcoming 2008-2009 season, which will begin mid-October at its downtown theatre in West Palm Beach.

The season will open with Eugene O’Neill’s A Moon for the Misbegotten, October 17-November 30, the story of James Tyrone and Josie Hogan, played by Todd Allen Durkin and Kati Brazda, who find companionship and solace in the grief, longing, and unrequited love they’ve hidden from the world. This production will also feature Peter Haig and Michael McKeeve. Eugene Ionesco’s The Chairs, December 19-February 1, will star Dan Leonard and Barbara Bradshaw. The play centers on two characters, known as Old Man and Old Woman, who frantically prepare chairs for a series of invisible guests.

The season will continue with Conor McPherson’s Olivier Award-winning play The Weir, February 20-April 5, starring Frank Converse, Dennis Creaghan and Lena Kaminsky. Full of ghost stories, the play is set in the local tavern of the Irish countryside. Edward Albee’s Peter and Jerry will complete the season, April 24-June 14, which delves deeper into his acclaimed play The Zoo Story by adding a first-act, Homelife, leading to Peter’s fateful meeting with Jerry. This production will feature Todd Allen Durkin, Margery Lowe, and Christopher Swan.
