Tracy Dahl, Michael Kepler Meo, Daniel Okulitch, et al. Set for Opera Theatre of St. Louis’ The Golden Ticket

Opera Theatre of St. Louis has announced casting for the world premiere of The Golden Ticket, which, as previously reported will run June 13- 26. James Robinson will direct the piece, which is adapted by composer Peter Ash and librettist Donald Sturrock from Roald Dahl’s Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.

The company will feature Daniel Okulitch (Willy Wonka), Michael Kepler Meo (Charlie), Tracy Dahl (Violet Beauregarde), Jennifer Rivera (Veruca Salt), David Trudgen (Mike Teavee), and Andrew Drost (Augustus Gloop). All performances are accompanied by members of the Saint Louis Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Timothy Redmond.

The creative team will include Tony Award winners Martin Pakledinaz (costume design) and Christopher Akerlind (lighting design), along with Bruno Schwengl (scenic design).

The Golden Ticket is a co-production of Opera Theatre of Saint Louis, American Lyric Theater and Wexford Festival Opera. Following the engagement in St. Louis, the production will be presented by Ireland’s Wexford Festival Opera for five performances between October 17 and 29, 2010. Additional performances in the United States will be announced by American Lyric Theater later this year.
