Nymph Errant, Oh, Kay!, Three Sisters and More Part of 42nd Street Moon’s 2011-2012 Season

42nd Street Moon has announced its 2011-2012 season.

Among the musicals the theater will offer is Nymph Errant (October 5-23), with songs by Cole Porter and a book by Romney Brent. The show, to be directed by Greg MacKellan, focuses on a newly graduated English schoolgirl, who sets off to experiment with life. MacKellan will also stage 42nd Street Moon’s premiere of a restoration of Jerome Kern and Oscar Hammerstein II’s Three Sisters. This 1934 musical looks at the life of a photographer and his spirited daughters who travel the world of derbys and carnivals. A third production in the theater’s season, Kander and Ebb’s Zorba (May 2-20), will also be directed by MacKellan.

The 42nd Street Moon season will also include Skinny Ennis’ staging of the Gershwins’ Oh, Kay! (November 2-20), which centers on what happens when a trio of bootleggers land in the middle of an estate on Long Island. In addition, Dyan McBride will direct Sugar (April 4-22), Jule Styne, Bob Merrill, and Peter Stone’s musical adaptation of the film Some Like It Hot.

Alongside the productions, the theater will offer two evenings that pay tribute to songwriters. On September 15, the company will present What a Swell Party! The Cole Porter Salon and on January 26, 42nd Street Moon will offer The Best of Times, The Jerry Herman Salon.
