Kathleen Turner will play Berkeley Repertory Theatre in the solo show Red Hot Patriot: The Kick-Ass Wit of Molly Ivins, which will begin performances on November 21 and run through January 4.

Written by twin-sister journalists Margaret Engel and Allison Engel, the show is based on the writings of the late political journalist Molly Ivins, the brassy Texan reporter whose liberal journalism skyrocketed her to the national stage. David Esbjornson directs.

The creative team will include set designer John Arnone, costume designer Elizabeth Hope Clancy, lighting designer Daniel Ionazzi, sound design/composition by Robert Milburn and Michael Bodeen, video designer Maya Ciarrochi, and wig designer Paul Huntley.

Turner originated her role during the show's 2010 world premiere from Philadelphia Theatre Company, and also played it at Geffen Playhouse and Arena Stage. Among Turner's Broadway credits are High, Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf?, The Graduate, and Cat on a Hot Tin Roof. Her many film credits include War of the Roses, Romancing the Stone, Prizzi's Honor, Body Heat, and Peggy Sue Got Married.
