With lyrics by Alan Jay Lerner, music by Burton Lane, and a book by Alan Jay Lerner and Joseph Stein, Carmelina is the story of Carmelina Campbell, an Italian "widow" of a non-existent soldier, who is faced with the return of three American soldiers who liberated San Forino in WWII.
The work is a musical adaptation of the film Buona Sera Mrs. Campbell, the same film that inspired the Broadway hit Mamma Mia!
