A film adaptation of Claudia Allen’s play, Hannah Free, will make its world premiere at the San Francisco Frameline Film Festival as the Gala Closing Night Film, June 28 at the Castro Theater. Rosie O’Donnell will present the film in person, and all of the film’s major stars and creators will attend the festival screening.

The film, directed by Wendy Jo Carlton, stars Emmy Award winner Sharon Gless in the title role, a fiercely independent woman who fights to see her lesbian partner one last time in a nursing home. The cast also includes Taylor Miller, Kelli Strickland, Ann Hagemann, and Jacqui Jackson.

Gless starred on stage in Allen’s Cahoots. Her other theatrical credits include Watch on the Rhine, Misery, and Chapter Two. She is best known for her television work, which includes Cagney & Lacey, The Trials of Rosie O’Neill, House Calls, Switch, Queer as Folk, and her current series, Burn Notice.
