Plays by Annie Baker, Martin McDonagh and More Set for Marin Theatre Company’s 2012-2013 Season

Marin Theatre Company has announced plans for its upcoming 2012-2013 season.

MTC will kick off the season with a co-production with the Encore Theatre Company of Annie Baker’s Circle Mirror Transformation (August 2-26), a play about a six-week adult Creative Drama class, directed by Kip Fagan. Then, the company will present Suzan-Lori Parks’ play about two black men trapped by their poverty, race, family history Topdog/Underdog (September 27-October 21). Over the holiday season, Jon Tracy will direct Joe Landry’s adaptation of Frank Capra’s 1946 classic film It’s a Wonderful Life: A Live Radio Play (November 23-December 16).

2013 will begin with Samuel Beckett’s Waiting for Godot (January 24-February 17), the classic absurdist play about Didi and Gogo, directed by Jasson Minadakis. Minadakis will also direct a co-production with Virginia Stage Company at the Wells Theatre of Matthew Lopez’s play about faith and freedom in the Civil War The Whipping Man (March 28-April 21). The season will come to a close with a production of The Beauty Queen of Leenane (May 23-June 16) by Martin McDonagh, a play about the uncomfortable relationship between a mother and daughter.
