The American Theatre Wing and the Village Voice have announced the judges for the 62nd annual Obie Awards. Members of the newly selected committee will join longtime chair of the Obie judges and TheaterMania contributor Michael Feingold.

This year's judges will include Obie- and Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright Ayad Akhtar (Disgraced), Entertainment Weekly theater critic Melissa Rose Bernardo, Obie-winning actress J. Smith Cameron, Obie-winning actor-singer Darius de Haas, Village Voice theater critic Miriam Felton-Dansky, and Obie-winning actress Daphne Rubin-Vega.

The 62nd annual Obie Awards will take place in May 2017. Additional details about the event will be announced shortly.

The Obies, which recognize off-Broadway artists and productions worthy of distinction, were originally created by the Village Voice. The American Theatre Wing, founder of the Tony Awards, has partnered with the Voice to copresent the Obies.
