SF Kids Spotlight: November '07
In November, kids can enjoy In the Land of the Grasshopper Song (November 16 - December 2, Magic Theatre) and Tales of Brer Rabbit (November 17, Sunnyvale Community Center). The first is a true story based on the adventures of two women who set out from the East Coast in 1908 to be "field matrons" for the Karuk Indian Tribe of Northern California. They were the only white women in the sixty-mile stretch of territory and left after two years with a great respect for the people they lived among. Brer Rabbit also invites you to journey back in time, but offers a light-hearted look at the wonderful stories of Joel Chandler Harris.
Chicago Kids Spotlight: November '07
The Premiere Theatre Company adapts The Quiltmakers' Gift, which will be both shadow interpreted and translated into American Sign Language (October 30-December 16 at the Athenaeum Theatre), the Ringling Brothers Circus is in town with Bellobration, featuring star clown, Bello (November 1-25, split between the urban United Center and suburban Allstate Arena), and Chicago Shakespeare Theater offers a treat for all ages with a return visit by the French physical theater troupe Compagnie Thierre, presenting Farewell Umbrella (November 21-December 1). The company is led by the deftly gifted grandson of Charlie Chaplin.
Seattle Kids Spotlight: November '07
Children can enjoy four musicals. StoryBook Theater/Studio East presents Twas The Night (November 24-December 16), written by Lani Brockman & Susan Bardsley. Seussical The Musical comes to Seattle Musical Theatre (November 16-December 2). Meet Me in St. Louis is performed at Tacoma Musical Playhouse (November 30-December 16), about the 1904 World's Fair. Finally, Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat is displayed at Driftwood Players (November 16-December 16).

Philadelphia Kids Spotlight: November '07
Embark on a magical trip to Neverland with the delightful musical Peter Pan (November 6-January 6) at the Walnut Street Theatre. Based on J.M. Barrie's classic adventure story, the 1954 musical's score includes the agreeable numbers "I'm Flying" and "I've Got to Crow." Cary Michel Miller stars as the boy "who wouldn't grow up" and Paul Schoeffler (fresh off his sterling performance as Don Quixote in the Walnut's Man of La Mancha) appears as Captain Hook.

Anaheim's Chance Theatre presents the Orange County premiere of Anne of Green Gables -- The Musical (November 9-December 23), Joseph Robinette and Evelyn D. Swensson's adaptation of Lucy Maud Montgomery's early-20th-century series of novels, a surefire attraction for young girls. South Coast Repertory in Costa Mesa offers David Wood's adaptation of Roald Dahl's tale, The BFG (Big Friendly Giant, November 4-18.) Nine O'Clock Players present Carol Weiss' original musical, Alice!, a looking-glass adventure (Hollywood's Walter Lantz Theatre, October 28-December 2). Cerritos Center for the Arts hosts A Garfield Christmas (November 23-25), featuring the fat-cat movie star and his friends.
London Kids Spotlight: November '07
A ride from the West End, the Told By an Idiot crowd is presenting Beauty and the Beast (November 29-January 5). The show features live music and stars Lisa Hammond in the title role.
