Two-time Tony Award nominee Mary Testa will reprise her role as Hilda Chester in a concert reading of Howling Hilda and the Brooklyn Dodgers, at Joe’s Pub on Monday, November 21 at 9:30pm. Valentina Fratti will direct, with musical direction by Remy Kurs.

Written by Anne Berlin and Andrew Bleckner, the solo musical tells the story of the Brooklyn Dodger’s greatest fan, Hilda Chester. Set on the eve of the Brooklyn Dodgers’ historic last season in New York, Hilda is being interviewed during the course of one game. Thwarted in her dream to play baseball, she spent a lifetime cheering. Hilda became an institution at Ebbets Field, notorious for her clanging cowbells, frying pan and iron ladle. Today she is in the Baseball Hall of Fame and there is an award given out in her name every year.

Testa is currently starring Off-Broadway in Queen of the Mist. She received Tony Award nominations for her performances in 42nd Street and On the Town. Her other Broadway credits include Xanadu, Chicago, Marie Christine, The Rink, and Barnum. Testa previously played the role of Hilda in a reading this past summer, presented as part of the Planet Connections Theatre Festivity, and won an award for her performance.
