Stage and screen star America Ferrera will host the ninth season of the PBS series Independent Lens, which debuts on October 19.
The anthology series will screen 27 documentaries. Previous hosts include Susan Sarandon, Terrence Howard, and Edie Falco.
Fererra appeared Off-Broadway in Dog Sees God. She is best known for her award-winning portrayal of Betty Suarez on ABC’s Ugly Betty and recently appeared in the film The Dry Land.
