Maria Irene Fornes, Materials for the Arts, Brick Theater to Receive IT Honorary Awards

The Innovative Theatre Foundation has announced its Honorary Award recipients, with the awards to be presented at the annual IT Awards ceremony at New World Stages on September 21, beginning at 7 pm.

Playwright Maria Irene Fornes will receive the organization’s Artistic Achievement Award, which is presented to an individual who has made a significant artistic contribution to the Off-Off-Broadway community. Materials for the Arts, a redistribution center for castoff and excess items from businesses and individuals in New York, will receive the IT Awards’ 2009 Stewardship Award. The 2009 Caffe Cino Fellowship Award, presented to an Off-Off-Broadway theater company that consistently produces outstanding work, will go to The Brick Theater, and also includes a grant to be used toward an Off-Off-Broadway production.
