Brian d’Arcy James, Joan Osborne, Mary Beth Peil, and David Pittu performed at the Atlantic Theater Company’s Annual Spring Gala, titled
Can You Spare a Dime? Dedicated to the songs of the 1930’s, the event was held Monday, March 7 at the Lighthouse at Chelsea Piers.
Guests included Giancarlo Esposito, Kathryn Erbe, Adrian Grenier, Jordan Lage, Jon Lindstrom, Mary McCann, Cady McClain, Jennifer Prescott, John Slattery, and Isaiah Whitlock, Jr.
Proceeds from the Gala will benefit Atlantic Theater Company Productions and Arts Education Outreach programs including “Atlantic for Kids” children’s productions and Atlantic’s in-classroom “Students and Educators” series, which serves over 3,000 New York City public school students annually. Atlantic’s goal is to help teachers cultivate the next generation of theater artists, audiences, and most importantly, critical thinkers and writers.
Atlantic and artistic director Neil Pepe were awarded a 2009 Drama Desk Award last season for “exceptional craftsmanship, dedication to excellence and productions that engage, inspire and enlighten.” In 2006, Atlantic was awarded the Lucille Lortel Prize for Outstanding Body of Work.
