John Malkovich, Frances McDormand Set for Transformers 3

John Malkovich and Frances McDormand have been cast in Transformers 3, according to director Michael Bay’s official website. Some shooting on the movie is slated to begin next month.

Bay reports that segments of the film will be shot in Los Angeles, Chicago, Washington DC, Florida, Texas, Africa, Moscow, and China. The director also reports that Ken Jeong has been newly cast in the film.

Malkovich is a member of the Steppenwolf Theatre Company and starred in the original production of True West and in the Broadway production of Burn This. Among his other stage credits are The Caretaker, Arms and the Man, and Death of a Salesman. He received Oscar nominations for his work in In the Line of Fire and Places in the Heart. As previously reported, he will be performing The Infernal Comedy at the Barbican in London during 2010-2011.

McDormand can currently be seen in The Wooster Group’s North Atlantic. Among her other stage credits are The Country Girl, A Streetcar Named Desire and Awake and Sing on Broadway. The actress won an Academy Award for her performance in Fargo and nominations for her work in North Country, Almost Famous, and Mississippi Burning.
