Arias With a Twist, As the World Turns, k.d. lang, Wig Out Win GLAAD Media Awards

The New York GLAAD Media Awards were held in New York City at the Marriott Marquis on March 28, hosted by Kate Clinton.
Tarell Alvin McCraney’s Wig Out, produced by the Vineyard Theatre, took home the award in the New York Theater, Broadway/Off-Broadway category, while Arias with a Twist by Joey Arias and Basil Twist, which was produced at HERE, won the Off-Off-Broadway Award.
Other winners included the CBS daytime drama As The World Turns, musician k.d. lang, the films Noah’s Arc:: Jumping the Broom, and Shelter, and journalist Keith Olbermann.
The ceremony also included presentations to special honorees Tyra Banks, Phil Donahue, and Suze Orman. Broadway veterans Clay Aiken, Stockard Channing, Cherry Jones, and T.R. Knight were among the performers and presenters.
Additional GLAAD Awards ceremonies will take place at the Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles on April 18 and the Hilton San Francisco on May 9.
