Laura Linney, Oliver Platt to Star in Showtime’s The Big C

Laura Linney and Oliver Platt will co-star in the new Showtime series The Big C (formerly titled The C Word), according to The Hollywood Reporter.

The network has ordered 13 episodes of the series in which Linney plays a woman who has been diagnosed with cancer. The show is created by Darlene Hunt, who will executive produce with Linney, Neal Moritz, and Vivian Cannon.

Linney currently stars in the Broadway production of Time Stands Still, which opens this month. She received Tony nominations for The Crucible and Sight Unseen, with additional Broadway credits including Les Liaisons Dangereuses, Uncle Vanya, and Holiday. She won the 2008 Emmy Award for HBO’s John Adams and is a three-time Oscar nominee for The Savages, Kinsey, and You Can Count on Me.

Platt received a Tony nomination for Shining City and also appeared in the most recent Broadway revival of Guys and Dolls. He is a four-time Emmy Award nominee for Huff, The West Wing, and Nip/Tuck.
