Heather Headley, Brian Stokes Mitchell, Karen Olivo, et al. Set for New York Pops 2010-2011 Season

The New York Pops orchestra has announced its lineup for the 2010-2011 season, which will include an 80th birthday tribute to Stephen Sondheim to be held on November 19 at Carnegie Hall. Steven Reineke will serve as musical director and conductor for this event and throughout the year.

Also on the Pops’ schedule is a concert of ABBA music, featuring the Finnish vocal group Rajaton (October 15); a pair of holiday concerts featuring Tony Award winner Brian Stokes Mitchell and the New York Pops Festival Chorus (December 10-11); a performance of Doc Severinsen’s El Ritmo de la Vida (January 28) and a celebration of the 50th anniversary of Judy Garland’s Carnegie Hall debut, with Tony Award winners Heather Headley and Karen Olivo, along with Ashley Brown (March 11).
