Tony Award-winning director John Rando (A Christmas Story) will direct the first major New York City revival in 27 years of Tom Stoppard's Rosencrantz and Guildenstern Are Dead. The production, presented by The Acting Company, will run in rotating repertory with Shakespeare's Hamlet (directed by Ian Belknap), January 9-February 1 at The Pearl Theatre Company.
The repertory productions will star Darien Battle, Ernest Bentley, Jacqueline Correa, Ian Gould, Robert David Grant, Angela Janas, Joshua Johnston, Suzy Kohane, Patrick Lane, Andy Nogasky, Grant Fletcher Prewitt, and John Skelley.
Shakespeare's classic tragedy Hamlet follows the titular prince's quest to exact revenge for his father's murder. Stoppard's Tony Award-winning comedy centers on the misadventures of two of Hamlet's characters, Rosencrantz and Guildenstern.
Additionally, The Acting Company will feature staged readings relating to Shakespeare and Stoppard, including the previously announced Textual Relations by TheaterMania's Michael Feingold, starring Acting Company board member Dana Ivey.
