Felicity Jones, Christopher Plummer, et al. Win National Board of Review Awards

The National Board of Review has announced the winners of its annual awards, according to a report in Variety. The prizes will be presented in a gala ceremony to be hosted by Natalie Morales and held on Tuesday, January 10 at Cipriani 42nd Street in New York City.

Among the winners are stage veterans Felicity Jones, who has won a Breakthrough Performance Award for her work in Like Crazy and Christopher Plummer, who has received the Best Supporting Actor Award for his work in Beginners. In addition, cast members of the film The Help, which features Viola Davis, Allison Janney, Octavia Spencer, Jessica Chastain, Bryce Dallas Howard, Chris Lowell, Ahna O’Reilly, Emma Stone, Sissy Spacek, Mary Steenburgen, Cicely Tyson, and Mike Vogel, have been recognized with the Best Ensemble Award.

The film Hugo, with a screenplay by John Logan, has been named Best Film and Martin Scorsese has received the Best Director Award for his work on the movie.

Among the other individual winners are George Clooney, Rooney Mara, Tilda Swinton, and Shailene Woodley. In addition, a Special Achievement in Filmmaking Award has been given to the Harry Potter franchise for “A Distinguished Translation from Book to Film.”
