Broadway Producer Hillard Elkins Dies at 81

Producer Hillard Elkins has died, following a heart attack, according to a report in Variety. He was 81.

Among the shows that Elkins brought to Broadway were the musicals Golden Boy and The Rothschilds and repertory productions of Athol Fugard’s Sizwe Banzi Is Dead and The Island, which also received Tony nominations.

His other Broadway credits include revivals of Ibsen’s Doll’s House and Hedda Gabler, which starred his then-wife Claire Bloom, as well as An Evening with Richard Nixon, Come on Strong, and Oh Calcutta!

His survivors include his wife, Sandi, two sons and a grandchild.
