Abraham, Cake, Marvel, et al. Set for Atlantic’s Almost an Evening

F. Murray Abraham, Jonathan Cake, and Elizabeth Marvel will be among the stars of the world premiere of Ethan Coen’s trio of short plays, Almost an Evening, January 9-February 10 at the Atlantic Theater Company’s Stage 2. The production, which will open officially on January 22, will be directed by Neil Pepe, the company’s artistic director.

The show will consist of the plays Waiting, Four Benches, and Debate. Coen is making his debut as a playwright. He is best-known as an Oscar-winning director and screenwriter — with his brother Joel — of such films as No Country for Old Men, Fargo, Barton Fink, and O Brother, Where Art Thou?

The cast will also feature J.R. Horne, Jordan Lage, Mark Linn-Baker, Mary McCann, Del Pentecost, and Joey Slotnick. The creative team includes Riccardo Hernandez (sets), Ilona Somogyi (costumes), Donald Holder (lighting), and Eric Shim (sound).
