In My Life, the new Broadway musical written and directed by Joe Brooks, will give its final performance at the Music Box Theatre on Sunday, December 11. As of that time, it will have played 23 previews and 61 performances.

The show is an offbeat tale of two lovers who are unwitting participants in God’s first reality opera, which is overseen by a flamboyant angel named Winston. It opened to some of the most negative reviews in years, but Brooks and his producer tried to keep the production alive through an extremely expensive advertising campaign which used both positive and negative quotes.

The cast of In My Life includes Jessica Boevers, Christopher J. Hanke, David Turner, Michael J. Farina, Roberta Gumbel, Michael Halling, Laura Jordan, Chiara Navarra, Courtney Balan, Jonathan Groff, Carmen Keels, Kilty Reidy, and Brynn Williams. In his TheaterMania review of the show, David Finkle wrote: “When a disaster such as this opens, it’s natural to wonder, ‘What were they thinking?’ ”
