Actor, dancer, and poet Sage Snakechalmer explores the personal struggles of classic film actress Rita Hayworth in her world premiere production of Private Dancer, a self-penned multimedia show in which she will make her professional stage debut this December at the Lion Theatre. Performances are scheduled to begin December 1 in advance of a December 5 opening and will run through December 21.

Snakechalmer, choreographer Francesca Harper, sound designer Lisa K. Fowle, production designer Abigail Benavides, and lighting designer Joshua Rose combine theater, dance, and film to depict Hayworth as a beautiful movie star whose public persona masked her true feelings of loneliness and her struggles with alcohol abuse. Snakechalmer draws on her own personal experiences with addiction to capture the life of this enigmatic public figure. Bob Degus helms the production.

Proceeds from the production will be donated to the Alzheimer's Association, New York City Chapter.
