The Broadway productions of Cinderella, Mamma Mia!, and The Phantom of the Opera will make a major switch beginning Thursday, April 3, 2014. The three shows will add Thursday matinees to their schedules to meet audience demand for more choice and flexibility.
Traditionally, weekday matinee performances on Broadway have been offered only on Wednesdays. In contrast, various productions playing on London's West End have frequently had matinees on different days, including Thursdays.
"We are confident that…the Thursday matinee will become a popular choice for both individual theatergoers and groups who will be thrilled with less congestion on the sidewalks, more tables to be had at one of the many theater district restaurants, and more available parking for cars and buses," said Broadway general manager Aaron Lustbader.
