Gabriel Byrne will direct Gerard Mannix Flynn's one-man show James X. The production will begin performances on December 6 at 45 Bleecker Theatre in anticipation of a December 9 opening.

The play, which will star its author, centers on a man waiting to give testimony to a tribunal investigating the sexual and physical abuse of children within the Catholic Church.

Byrne received a Tony nomination for his performance in A Moon for the Misbegotten, and most recently starred on Broadway in A Touch of the Poet. In addition, he played King Arthur in the New York Philharmonic's 2008 concert performances of Camelot. In addition, he has produced such films as the Academy Award nominated In the Name of the Father.
