An injury to star Kristin Chenoweth during this weekend's technical rehearsal for the Roundabout Theatre Company's new production of the 1966 Broadway musical The Apple Tree at Studio 54 has led to the cancellation of the show's first preview, which was scheduled for Tuesday, November 28. The actress fell off an elevated section of the stage. She is expected to be ready to perform on Wednesday.

The show, to be directed by Gary Griffin, will officially open on December 14 and run through March 11. The show will also star Brian d'Arcy James, Marc Kudisch, and Walter Charles. It will feature choreography by Andy Blankenbuehler, and Rob Fisher will be the musical supervisor.

A trilogy of one-act musicals about men, women, and temptation, The Apple Tree has music by Jerry Bock, lyrics by Sheldon Harnick, and a book by Bock, Harnick, and Jerome Coopersmith. Chenoweth previously starred in the show's 2004 presentation at City Center Encores! which was also directed by Griffin.

At the Roundabout, the show's design team includes John Lee Beatty (sets), Jess Goldstein (costumes), Donald Holder (lighting), and Dan Moses Schreier (sound). The ensemble will fature Meggie Nicole Cansler, Julie Connors, Sarah Jane Everman, Jennifer Taylor Farrell, Justin Keyes, Lorin Lataro, Mike McGowan, Sean Palmer, Dennis Stowe, and Eric Santagata.
