The great Cy Coleman — composer of such Broadway musicals as Sweet Charity, On the Twentieth Century, City of Angels, The Will Rogers Follies, and The Life — was the guest of honor at last night’s Johnny Mercer Foundation gala benefit, held at The Rainbow Room.

…actor and talk show host Tony Danza with legendary music man Skitch Henderson…

…Kathie Lee Gifford with her husband, Frank Gifford…

One of the many other events that took place last evening was a special program at the Richard Rodgers Theatre, produced by University of Michigan alum Jeffrey Seller (Rent, Avenue Q, etc.) to officially announce and celebrate the building and naming of the new Arthur Miller Theater at the university. Here is Seller (right) with partner Joshua Lehrer at the after-party for the event, held at the Marriott Marquis.

Here are Brenda Blethyn and Edie Falco, the stars of the Broadway revival of Marsha Norman’s ‘night, Mother, at Tavern on the Green for the party to celebrate the show’s opening at the Royale Theatre on Sunday, November 14.

Among the celebs who turned out for the ‘night, Mother opening were Jane Krakowski, who’ll be seen as the Ghost of Christmas Past in the upcoming TV movie version of A Christmas Carol….

…and Brooke Shields, the new star of the Broadway revival of Wonderful Town.
