The cast of New York Theater Workshop's production of Paula Vogel's A Civil War Christmas celebrated its first day of rehearsal on Tuesday, October 17. Tina Landau directs the new play with music, which runs November 13-December 30.

Tony Award-winner Alice Ripley and Tony nominee Bob Stillman lead the company as Mary Todd and Abraham Lincoln in the work, set on Christmas Eve, 1864, and weaving together the stories of historical figures and fictional characters, as well as holiday spirituals and traditional carols.

Also featured are De'adre Aziza, Sumaya Bouhbal, K. Todd Freeman, Chris Henry, Rachel Spencer Hewitt, Antwayn Hopper, Jonathan-David, Karen Kandel, and Sean Allan Krill.
