Stage and Screen Star Joseph Wiseman Dies at 91

Joseph Wiseman, a longtime stage and screen actor most widely known for playing the villainous title character in Dr. No, has died, according to published reports. He was 91.

On Broadway, Wiseman was seen most recently, in 2001, as a witness for the prosecution in Abby Mann’s stage adaptation of his film drama Judgment at Nuremberg. Wiseman’s other Broadway credits include Detective Story, the 1950s revival of Golden Boy, Incident at Vichy, and In the Matter of J. Robert Oppenheimer, for which he won a Drama Desk Award.

Wiseman’s other film appearances include Detective Story, Viva Zapata!, The Garment Jungle, The Unforgiven, The Night They Raided Minsky’s, and The Apprenticeship of Duddy Kravitz.
