Sir Tom Stoppard will be honored at the New York Public Library’s annual Library Lions benefit, to be held at 7pm on Monday, November 5 at the Library’s main branch at Fifth Avenue and 42nd Street. The evening’s master of ceremonies will be actress Jennifer Ehle, who won Tony Awards for her work in Stoppard’s The Real Thing and The Coast of Utopia.

The event will also honor historian John Hope Franklin, novelist Jhumpa Lahiri, and film director Martin Scorsese. Many of the 40 previous honorees are expected to attend the benefit.

Stoppard’s plays also include Arcadia, Jumpers, The Invention of Love, Travesties, Hapgood, and Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are Dead. His newest play, Rock ‘n’ Roll, begins performances tonight at Broadway’s Bernard B. Jacobs Theatre.
