The all-marionette production will be helmed by DTC Artistic Director Emeritus Richard Hamburger, and performed to a fully orchestrated recording by the Istropolis Philharmonic Orchestra, conducted by Larry Blank.
The voice talents on the recording include Kelsey Fowler (Marta von Trapp), Franz (Sister Berthe, Frau Schmidt), Gambatese (Louisa von Trapp), Kylie Goldstein (Gretl von Trapp), Groff (Rolf Gruber, Friederich von Trapp), Matthew Gumley (Kurt von Trapp), Betsy Hogg (Brigitta von Trapp), Jeanne Lehman (Mother Abbess), Michael McCarty (Franz, Baron Elberfeld, Admiral von Schreiber), Crista Moore (Baroness Elsa Schraeder, Sister Margaretta), Noll (Maria Rainer), Vidnovic (Captain Georg von Trapp), Jennifer Hope Wills (Sister Sophia, Liesl von Trapp), and Youmans (Max Detweiler, Herr Zeller).
Puppeteers will include Philippe Brunner, Pierre Droin, Vladimir Fediakov, Heide Hölzl, Gerda Michel, Michaela Obermayr, Emanuel Paulus, Pavel Tikhonov, Vladimir Tikhonov, Eva Wiener, and Ursula Winzer.
Following the Dallas Theater Center engagement, the production will travel to San Antonio, TX (November 5); Philadelphia's Kimmel Center for the Performing Arts (November 8-10); Princeton's McCarter Theatre (November 12); Lancaster, PA (November 13-16); Baltimore, MD (November 17-18); Gainesville, FL (November 21 & 23); Burlington, VT (November 27); Newark, NJ (November 30 & Dec. 1-2); Providence, RI (December 3); and New York's Metropolitan Museum of Art (December 7-9). After the U.S. tour wraps up, the show will return to Salzburg and Europe.
The design team includes Christopher Barreca (scenic designer), Anita Yavich (costume and puppet designer) and David Budries (sound designer), and David Rosenmeyer (musical direction).
