Roderick Hill has replaced James McMenamin as Mr. Gardner in the Broadway revival of Simon Gray’s Butley, which began previews at the Booth Theatre on October 5 and will open officially on October 25. No reason was given for the switch.

Butley stars Nathan Lane as a literary professor who loses his wife and his male lover in the same day. The cast also includes Jessica Stone, Darren Pettie, Dana Ivey, Pamela Gray, and Julian Ovenden. The production is directed by Nicholas Martin, and the design team includes Alexander Dodge (sets), Ann Roth (costumes), David Weiner (lighting), and John Gromada (sound). Martin is the artistic director of Boston’s Huntington Theatre, where he staged Butley with Lane in 2003.

Hill was last seen on Broadway as Nicolas in Lestat. His other stage credits include Cymbeline, The Singing Forest, Nerds: The Musical, and The Irish Curse.
