Three Sisters Kicks Off Cocteau Rep Reading Series

Marin Ireland, Tom Nelis, and Samantha Soule will head the cast of the Jean Cocteau Repertory’s staged reading of Craig Lucas’ adaptation of Anton Chekhov’s classic play Three Sisters at 8pm on Monday, October 24 at the Bouwerie Lane Theater (330 Bowery).

The reading kicks off the 2005-2006 season of Cocteau’s New Classics Reading Series, which continues through April 10. Admission is free, although there is a $5 suggested donation.

Directed by Will Pomerantz, Three Sisters will also feature Sara Jeanne Asselin, Denis Butkus, Matt D’Amico, Bill Dawes, Seth Duerr, Dylan Green, Cordis Heard, David Letwin, Tom Morrisey, Kameron Steele, and Margot White. Lucas is the author of such plays as The Dying Gaul, Prelude to a Kiss, and Reckless, and wrote the book for the Tony Award-winning musical The Light in the Piazza.

The reading series will continue with John Strand’s adaptation of Alfred de Musset’s Lorenzaccio, directed by Scott Schwartz (November 15), Jean Anouilh’s Antigone (December 19), Jordan Harrison’s Kid Simple (February 13),
Blair Singer’s The American Fiancée, an adaptation of Chekhov’s The Betrothed (March 13), and a newly commissioned adaptation of Medea by Joseph Goodrich (April 10).
