Jason Graae will star in the world premiere revision of Jerry Herman’s 1979 musical The Grand Tour, featuring two new songs by Herman and an extensively re-written book by co-author Mark Bramble, at L.A’s Colony Theater, November 2-December 4. The production, to be directed by Evan Weinstein, will officially open on November 5.

The show’s cast will also include Tami Tappan Damiano, John Ganun, Cynthia Beckert, Robyn Cohen, Michael Dotson, Gordon Goodman, Marsha Kramer, Peter Musante, and John Racca. The set design is by Bradley Kaye, costume design is by Jeffrey Schoenberg, sound design is by Drew Dalzell, and lighting design is by Don Guy.

The Grand Tour, based on S.N. Behrman’s Jacobowsky and the Colonel, tells the story of a humble young Jew fleeing the Nazi-occupied French countryside who must suddenly join forces with an anti-Semitic Polish officer smuggling secret papers to England. The 1979 Broadway production only ran for 61 regular performances, but earned Tony Award nominations for Herman and stars Joel Grey and Ron Holgate.

Graae’s Broadway credits include A Grand Night for Singing, Falsettos, and Stardust. He has appeared Off-Broadway in Forever Plaid, Snoopy, Olympus on My Mind and Hello Muddah, Hello Fadduh!
