Thurgood Wins Humanitas Prize

The 37th Annual Humanitas Prize, which honors film and television writers who deeply explore the human experience, were handed out on Friday, September 16 at the Montage Beverly Hills.


Among the winners were Thomas McCarthy (Win Win), David Seidler (The King’s Speech), and.George Stevens, Jr. (Thurgood).

Nominees included Pulitzer Prize winner Robert Schenkkan, who was nominated with co-writer Bruce McKenna for an episode of HBO’s The Pacific, as well as Danny Boyle and Simon Beaufoy (127 Hours), Liz Brixius (Nurse Jackie), and Darlene Hunt (The Big C),


Gary David Goldberg, the creator of such TV series as Family Ties, Brooklyn Bridge, and Spin City, received the Kaiser Award.
